About Jeff Daniel Smith
A native of southern California, Smith began his art career doing illustrations and logo designs while still in high school. He attended El Camino College studying drawing, painting, and art history.
In 1982, Smith was hired by Fine Line Design in Torrance, California, beginning his career as a painter of murals and backdrops for various commercial art studios. Upon moving to the Monterey peninsula in 1994, Smith became inspired by the natural beauty of the area.
“I want my painintg to be spontaneous. Light and color are constantly changing, so I have to work quickly to capture the moment.” Bold brushwork and lively color are the trademarks of his work.
